The Governing Body has a range of duties and powers, and a general responsibility for the conduct of the School with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement. This includes:
  • setting targets for pupil achievement
  • managing the School's finances
  • making sure the curriculum is balanced
  • appointing senior staff
  • reviewing staff performance and pay
  • deciding how, in strategic terms, the School should be run

As a Church Aided School our Governing Body is made up of Foundation, Parent, Staff and Local Authority Governors, as defined in our Instrument of Government (see below).

pdfInstrument of Government

The Full Governing Body meets five times a year to decide the School's aims and policies and to ensure efficient running of the School.

The Governing Body has three core sub-committees:

  1. Teaching and Learning – monitors the standards of teaching and learning in the School
  2. Finance – manages budgets and finances and ensures school resources are satisfactory
  3. Spiritual, Moral, Social & Cultural – monitors and promotes the School’s distinctive Christian character and its impact on pupils’ personal and academic development and the wellbeing of all members of the school community.

These sub-committees meet on a regular basis to discuss in more detail the areas within their responsibility, which is defined in their terms of reference.  See the terms of reference below.
