We help our children
embrace new challenges

  • A broad and balanced approach

We provide a curriculum that inspires and motivates children to develop a love of learning and a thirst for new knowledge.

Our curriculum is broadly topic based; our Cornerstone topics are carefully selected to ensure that our pupils get full coverage of the National Curriculum 2014. We choose our topics every year to take into account the learners in each class. By doing this, we create a bespoke curriculum that focuses on the interests and needs of our pupils. Topics are selected so that there is also clear progression of knowledge, skills and understanding across each year group and key stage.

Whenever and wherever possible we plan enrichment activities and experiences to enhance and deepen our pupils’ learning. In each cornerstone topic there are four key elements:

    1. Engage: hook children in with a memorable experience.
    2. Develop: allow children time to gather the skills and knowledge they need to develop a deep understanding.
    3. Innovate: offer creative experiences that allow children to apply their skills, knowledge and understanding.
    4. Express: provide the space and time for reflecting, evaluating, and celebrating learning.

At the end of each topic there is usually be an opportunity for parents to share their child’s learning.
