Welcome to Maple Class
Starting in our ‘reception year’ is an exciting part of your child’s learning journey. Pupil wellbeing is at the centre of everything we do at Penshurst and this is key to our ethos in the Foundation Stage. We aim to provide a supportive and stimulating setting in which your child will feel happy to explore and learn.
Our curriculum is designed to be purposeful and varied, with links to children’s first-hand experiences, with the aim that each child will be captivated by learning and become creators, explorers and risk takers, following their own interests and asking questions to extend their own learning. We adapt the curriculum and our teaching approaches to meet the needs of each group of learners at our school.
Children are supported in their learning by experienced teachers and teaching assistants who are dedicated, passionate and focused on providing your child with a strong foundation for a lifetime of learning.
Our small class size and high staff to child ratio promotes a purposeful and happy atmosphere. The children also benefit from having continuous access to our well-equipped outdoor classroom. Each term there is a new overarching topic that filters into their exploration of all subjects across the curriculum.
